‘Between Rounds’ – 60 seconds of quick-fire questions with exciting lightweight prospect Spencer Wilcox

Spencer Wilcox has blasted out both of his opponents since turning pro and could make it a hat-trick of knockout wins next week.

The Canadian lightweight has hit the ground running in the paid ranks with back-to-back second round stoppage victories and looks to extend his streak in Montreal on June 2.

Wilcox, 22, is fighting on a co-promotional event between Probellum and GYM which also sees the eagerly awaited return to action of US super welterweight Charles Conwell.

A four-time national amateur champion, the Hamilton-native faces Juan Carlos Ramirez Garcia over four rounds but as he put the final touches to his preparations, he sat down with Probellum.com to answer soe quick-fire questions, as the latest subject of our Between Rounds series.

SPENCER WILCOX OFFICIAL BIO, STATS AND RECORD

PROBELLUM LAND ONE OF CANADA’S HOTTEST PROSPECTS

Favourite Fighter: I’ve always been stuck in between Sugar Ray Leonard and a young Floyd Mayweather. Those two guys and Shane Mosley, those three guys have always been my biggest idols.

Favourite Fight: I watch the same fight before every single fight of mine and is Shane Mosley versus Antonio Margarito.  Mosley was the underdog in every single aspect, but he went out there and looked phenomenal. I love it.

Favourite other sport: I was always big into hockey and basketball.  I like the Pittsburgh Penguins and in basketball, you’ve got to go with your home crowd, so it’s the Toronto Raptors.

Favourite meal: A good, thick, rare steak.  But I do have a ritual where after my fights, we go to McDonald’s and grab a burger.

Last place you went on holiday: Our gym is like a family and every year we all try to go away together, and we like cruises, to anywhere hot. I like Miami.

Best film you’ve seen: I like the Mafia movies. Casino and Goodfellas are probably my two favourites.

Netflix recommendation: I’m a big anime fan so, on Netflix, I would say Naruto Dragon Ball Z.

Most famous follower on social media: Lennox Lewis follows me.  He was raised around here, and I’ve met him a few times.

If you weren’t a boxer, your job would be:  I’m actually still at school, studying Civil Engineering, and I have one year left.

If you could listen to one song for the rest of your life: I’m a big rock guy and so I would say ‘Sweet Child O’Mine’ by Guns N’ Roses.
