Bantamweight
England’s Paul Butler was officially named as the WBO world bantamweight champion in May 2022.
Butler was able to celebrate becoming a two-time title holder at 118lbs after being elevated to full champion following the decision to strip the title holder John Riel Casimero.
Butler had won the interim belt in front of his passionate home fans at Probellum Liverpool, the month before, after defeating Jonas Sultan over 12 rounds.
The Liverpool Football Club fan won the IBF title in 2014 and has also campaigned at super-flyweight, winning British and Commonwealth belts and also challenging for the IBF world crown.
Always backed by a loyal and vocal set of supporters, the stylish Butler had around 90 amateur contests, claiming national titles, representing his country and narrowly missing out on 2012 Olympic qualification.
Butler, who is coached by Joe Gallagher, signed for Probellum in October 2021.
