EDUARDO HERNANDEZ’S HUGE KO WIN CAN LEAD TO SUPER FEATHERWEIGHT WORLD TITLE ‘VERY SOON’
2 months ago

Eduardo Hernandez tore through Jorge David Castaneda to announce himself as a force in the super featherweight division.

‘Rocky’ took less than a round to rip the WBC International Silver title away from his rival, in Guadalajara, Mexico on Friday night.

The heavy handed Hernandez, 24, dropped Castaneda with a thumping left hook and though he got to his feet, the Mexican moved in to finish the fight off.

And after Castaneda shipped further punishment, the referee stepped in to wave the contest off at 1:35 and confirmed Hernandez as the dangerman in a talent-laden 130lbs weight class.

“I hope to have a World title opportunity very soon,” said Hernandez, who has has stopped opponents in all but three of his 32 wins.

“I knew that this was going to be a great fight, but I was always confident I was going to win well, and I showed that.”

Ahead of Hernandez’s headline-grabbing performance, the WBC rankings had him as the No8 ranked contender for Shakur Stevenson’s title.

Probellum stable-mates O’Shaquie Foster and Archie Sharp are ranked as the No1 contenders by the WBC and WBO, respectively, and are also in the hunt for world title shots.
